Richard Percy Club Manager -Waimae Old Boys

Let me introduce myself. My name is Richard Percy or Rich as a few know me by!

My Role: I have recently been appointed as Club Manager for Waimea Old Boys Rugby Club. In this role I am responsible for the day to day operational running of the club supported by the C.M.G (Club Management Group) who like myself are all volunteers.

I report to the Board of Directors who are responsible for Governance including Strategy and Financial direction.

My Background: I originally hail from Wellington and have been living in Nelson just over 3 years with my wife Rachael and our 2 kids Elliot and Hannah who both play at Waimea Old Boys. Yes I am a proud Wellingtonian as some of you know! (Hurricanes and Lions Man)

I have also been involved with Nelson Cricket since my arrival into this wonderful region both as a coach and mentor for a local club. (played at a distinguished level…….)

I have a strong business background originally coming down to work for Toll (freight business) and running the region for the last 2 and a bit years but more recently I have been given the wonderful opportunity of representing a Nelson based and iconic freighting brand TNL International. This will bring close to 19 years of industry knowledge and business acumen to our wonderful club.

Why Waimea Old Boys?

Well its simple; the club represents for me all the core values Family, Community, a place where we can celebrate the legacy and proud history, and more importantly to be seen also as the club of choice for people and the community to be part of.

There is great group of volunteer’s that give up their time to be part of the day to day running of this organisation and part of my role is to harness this and grow our future rugby stars, board members, volunteers etc…. and get people enjoying what the club means to the wider community.

So I will be visible out and about on Saturdays and really would like the time to meet as many people that are passionate about this club. Any feedback and people putting their hands up to assist is always welcome……you are the people the club needs.

I personally look forward to seeing you all as part of the 2018 club season.
